Setting up an image gallery with jQuery is quick and easy

All over the internet, you can find beautiful image galleries. Some of these image galleries use flash, which can be really nice, but also cost a lot more and take more time to implement than a jQuery image gallery. This article will give you some examples of image galleries that are easy to implement, quick to code, and are simple to customize.

jQuery Cycle Plugin

This is one of my favorite jQuery image gallery scripts. Setup is a breeze and with some css you can make it look really good. The jQuery cycle plugin offers a wide variety of transitions and effects which makes it versitile enough to suite any situation. jQuery Thickbox

This is a classic jQuery image gallery script. You have probably seen it or a script similar to it tons of times. With the thickbox script, you click on a smaller image and the background is made dark and an enlarged version of the image is displayed in the center of the page. Thickbox can be used in many different ways. You can use the thickbox plugin to display a single image, multiple images, inline content, iframed content, or content served from an AJAX script. jQuery GalleryView

This jQuery image gallery script is used to display images in a stylish way, with little work to setup and customize. The script has a large area to display the "main" image and lists thumbnails to be enlarged underneath. It also includes arrows to navigate between sets of thumbnails and view the next image. Custom jQuery Image Gallery

There might not be an image gallery script that fits your needs, but they aren't that hard to custom code. A custom jQuery image gallery can be setup very easily. Using a few jQuery scripts you can have an image gallery up in just a few hours. These two galleries can be found on the Pennsyvania Dutch Design website.
