You can have the best website on the internet, but that won't matter if you don't market it. Over 80% of all website fail because they are not marketed correctly. Here are 4 basic marketing tips you get you started.
Give something away for FREE
Free is one of the most common words used on the internet. Giving something away for free gives your users a reward for signing up for a mailing list or filling out a survey. And this doesn't have to be something that costs anything to you. Find a free e-book or write one yourself. Give away something that would be useful to your potential customers. If you sell golf clubs, give away an e-book about improving your swing, if you run a restaurant give away a recipe or some cooking tips.
Get an email list
Email marketing has a higher return on investment than any other type of marketing. An email list is a great way to build relationships and trust with your customers. Send out monthly or weekly updates, depending on how busy your business is, you don't want to turn your customers off to you. Include coupons and sales in your newsletters. This will intice your customers and lead them to your website and possibly to a sale.
Statistic tracking
Are you monitoring your website traffic? Do you know how many people visit per day, where they're coming from, what keywords they used to find you? There are a number of free website statistic tools, the most popular probably being Google Analytics. But any statistical tracking tool will help you streamline your business and market towards the appropriate audience.
Shopping portal submissions
Now this doesn't necessarily apply to all business, but if you sell a product, you should be taking advantage of all of the shopping portals on the web. A lot of these websites have a page rank of 5+, and for search engine optimization, having multiple sites with page ranks higher than 5 will increase your page rank and assist in driving more quality traffic to your website. Some shopping portals include bizrate.com, shopzilla.com, pricescan.com, dealtime.com, mysimon.com, pricegrabber.com, etc., the list can go on for days.
