This is quite possibly my biggest reason not to outsource. While it may be a minor concern for some, if the project manager misses a key aspect of your website or misunderstands, you will be left with a half finished project.

Think about it. If you are working with a company half way across the world, it is going to be harder to maintain good communication, which is essential in any project, web related or not. Playing phone tag or communication strictly by email simply isn't enough some times. Outsourcing your website design and development projects can leave you with no options but to communicate via email or phone.

Poor quility work

I have worked on a few projects that were originally outsourced, and it was an ugly experience. Poor coding and commenting makes following the code and updating very difficult and time consuming. Your initial investment in your website might be cheaper, but if you want your website to grow with your business, you are going to want a site that is easy to add features and upgrade. Having a poorly coded website will leave you spending more to fix the errors, and even more upgrading.

Avoid scamming companies

Companies offer a great price but is it real or a scam? Before outsourcing your work you have to research a company adding more time and costs to your website design and development projects.

Build a good relationship with your website design and development company

This might be the best part of hiring a local freelace website designer and developer. You can meet face to face to go over your projects in details and really get a sense for who you are working with. You will be much more comfortable if you have a good relationship and trust your website developer.
