How much will your website cost?
Written by Joe on Tuesday, October 26, 2010
The question on everyone's mind, how much will it cost?
99% of the time, before anything else this is the first question I get. And of course before you agree to anything you are going to want to know how much it will cost. You don't agree to a service contract before knowing what you'll get right? Well a website is the same. The more involved and complex your website is the more your website will cost. Here are 5 factors that will influence your website cost.
Custom website design
A custom website design is going to cost more than a website template. A website template is a website that has already been designed. While there is nothing wrong with using a website template, if you want a custom design it's going to cost more. A custom design takes time, and depending on how many revisions you want to make, it's going to take more time and cost more.
Dynamic website development
You want a website that is going to be able to evolve over time. Adding new pages and content is a must to keep your website visitors coming back and for search engine optimization. A static website can be boring and offer your visitors nothing to look forward to.
Content management system
If you're going to be adding content to your website, you're going to need a way to manage that content. A content management system can make updating your website as simple as creating a word document. Don't believe it? View our content management system demo. A WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor makes creating rich content a breeze.
Special forms
Custom forms to set up appointments or request information are great to have on a website. They offer your visitors ways to interact with your website and your business. However, these forms can take a lot of time to develop and test. And if you're going to want to be able to export these requests, that's going to take more time. Keep this in mind when you are planning out your website.
Functionality
Enhanced functionality can create a great experience for you users. The constant development of social networking API's and other web tools enable you to create customized experiences for your website users. These enhancements are great, but they can take a considerable amount of time to setup, test, and get functioning correctly.
Time is money. And the more time that goes into developing and designing your website, the more your website will cost. Makes sense right? Coming up with an accurate website cost will take some time as well. Often it will take a few conversations for the website development company to get a complete understanding of exactly what you need and come up with a quote to fit your needs.
