2 great New Jersey restaurant websites

Of njmonthly.com's "25 Best Restaurants 2010", here are my 2 favorite websites

1. Frog and The Peach

This is an example of a great restaurant website. It's has a lot of pages and they are all text based and easily crawllable by search engines. This gives visitors plenty to read about, share, and want to be a part of. All of the content is HTML and CSS based with flash and javascript to enhance the user experience.

Text menu

Frog and The Peach has their entire menu in text on their website. This is great for search engines. When a user is searching for ingredients on your menu, they will be led right to your website. They also have their Thanksgiving menu online, which has many marketing advantages, including my 5 restaurant marketing tips.

Online reservations

Frog and The Peach offer online reservations through a popular online reservation platform called opentable.com. This system works well, except for you have to go to opentable.com and leave your website.

2. Copeland: New American Cuisine & Martini Bar Morristown New Jersey

Coperland is another example of a great restaurant website. Though it's not as big as the Frog and The Peach website, it is HTML and CSS based which makes it easily crawlable by search engines.

Promotions

Coperland has their special promotions as a page in their main website navigation. Visitors considering dining at Coperland can see the special promotions and be enticed to dine at your restaurant.

Online reservations

Like Frog and The Peach, Coperland uses opentable.com to make online reservations. If your restaurant takes reservations, you should offer them on your website. That makes copelandrestaurant.com a great website.

What would I do differently?

Social networking

Facebook and Twitter at the very least. Facbook users can tag pictures with your location as well as post being at your restaurant. This will also be posted on all of their friends walls, it's pretty much free advertising. Twitter keeps getting more and more popular. Tweeting daily specials can gain a strong community of followers.

Email list

An email list is great for restaurants because you can offer great deals to your most loyal customers and keep them coming back for more. You can also learn from your email list, what specials your customers like and what they don't.
